INDUSTRY VOICES — A glimpse into KAMEKO's unknown past and a few of the voices that helped shape the journey toward his independent future.

Long before KAMEKO's independent creative work reached millions of followers around the world, and before he would go on to collaborate with Michael Jackson and other internationally recognized creative figures, some of the music industry's most influential voices had already taken notice. The most impactful support came from a U.S. major label record executive who wound up being a mentor. In addition to the label executive, two prominent UK TV/radio personalities helped spotlight his music during the formative years of his career.

 

Collectively, the three offered guidance, encouragement, and important industry introductions along the way. The executive was Monte Lipman, then-President of Universal Records and currently Co-Founder of Republic Records. 

 

After attending a live performance, Monte recognized the potential for KAMEKO's unique sound to reach a broader audience and personally connected him with Grammy Award winning artist Erykah Badu. Although KAMEKO eventually chose to step away from his major label opportunities to pursue an independent creative path, Lipman remained supportive of his decision.

 

  Ultimately, the validation and early support from these three industry figures opened critical doors for KAMEKO's journey as an independent artist.
